Downsizing- Part 1
Are you currently thinking about downsizing your home and life? I would imagine that if you live in a large home or have lived there for a long time, you probably own alot of stuff!
So, the question is....how much will need to let go of in order to make this move and begin a new journey in your life? This will be different for everyone, so there is no one answer to this question. BUT, you can make this happen by planning and thinking through all that you own.
The first thing would be to figure out where you will move to. Know what your current square footage of your home is. This will be important! As you are looking for a new home pay attention to what the square footages are. Also, very important is shop around and look at the homes you are interested in. Just looking at pictures will not tell you how the smaller home feels and if you will be able to function in the home.
Another thing to consider is maintainace of the home. Will you be able to mow your own lawn, shovel the snow, take care of weeds? If something breaks in the home, will you be able to fix it and most importantly will you be able to know if something breaks in your home? Having a plan of attack and knowing how you will maintain will be critical. Deciding if you will be the one maintaining, or if you will hire someone to take care of all of the outdoor maintainace and any inside repairs.
So much goes into making the decision to move and where to move to. Having an expert help guide you through this process can make this experience less overwhelming. A great Realtor and a Professional Organizer can be your best defense and will guide you in the right direction.
Stay tuned for part 2 of Downsizing!
